We don't fix people. We reveal what's already there.
Train Together is a relationship-centred social business, not a training company. We walk beside people as they move from "I'm just a…" to "I am." You don't have to do it alone.
Together we are more.
It started with one small word. Just.
Our founder watched two of the most capable people he knew, his own parents, make themselves small with it. "I'm just an engineer." "I'm just a PA." The talent was real. The contribution was real. Only the language was missing. Fifteen years later, walking beside people until they find that language is still the whole job.
Born from a crisis. Built on a conviction.
The short version is on the home page. This is the long one, for anyone deciding whether to trust us with their people.

The origin
A word that acts like a cage
Our founder's dad could look at any machine and see what others couldn't. His mum could walk into chaos and create order. Neither of them ever saw it in themselves, the education system hadn't recognised them, and the workplace had undervalued them.
He saw the same everywhere. "I'm just a teaching assistant." "I'm just admin." "I'm just a greenkeeper." The word just isn't innocent. It's how talented people learn to apologise for existing.

2011
Desks built over Christmas
His mum's cancer diagnosis came while she was working at a provider collapsing under failed leadership. The learners deserved better. He couldn't watch her carry it alone, so he stepped in.
They built desks over Christmas, found a room in a council incubator, and launched with no capital and no business plan, just a refusal to let talent go unnamed. From day one, the tagline was "Realise Your Potential."

The disruption years
Trying to fit the wrong shape
We wanted to grow, so we borrowed the industry's systems and language. It never fit. Their world was compliance, tick-boxes, and qualification pipelines. Ours was transformation, identity, and community.
Our learners were transforming, claiming new identities, stepping into leadership, becoming mentors. But the standard metrics couldn't see any of it.

The reawakening
Finding our language
Reading Ricardo Semler on self-managing organisations, visiting the UK's only Lumiar school, picking up "Be More Pirate", it all read like coming home. Brené Brown on courage. Frederic Laloux on evolutionary organisations. Nancy Kline's thinking environment.
These weren't new ideas to adopt. They were words for what we'd been living all along, something with a single word at its centre. That word was together.

Now
Fully becoming
We flattened our structure to give our people genuine agency and voice. We brought in AI not to cut costs but to remove busywork, freeing time for the human work: listening, mentoring, connecting. And we built ASCEND, a way of holding, at scale, the journey we'd always run on instinct.
Today we're a relationship-centred, transformation-led, AI-enabled social business. The Academy is the next chapter of the same story.
Together, we are more.
You don't have to know exactly where you're going. You don't have to do it alone. We meet people where they are and stay beside them, until the story they tell about themselves starts to change.
"I'm just a…"
A habit of shrinking. It sounds like modesty, but workplaces teach it, and it quietly caps what a person believes they're allowed to become.
"I am more…"
The same person, looking again. More confident. More capable. More ambitious. Said in the first person, because it's theirs to claim, not ours to hand over.
"I am."
Named and equipped, with the language, community, and credentials to step into it, and people beside them who saw it first.
"I am more confident."In their words, not ours.
"I am more capable."The job title never said so.
"I am more ambitious."Now they can see the next step.
The convictions that shape every decision we make.
We're relationship-centred
Learning happens through people, not portals. Every learner is seen, heard, and valued, that isn't a nice-to-have, it's the mechanism.
We're transformation-led
We don't just describe a programme. We describe change. Small wins count as much as big milestones, because they're where the shift shows first.
We're AI-enabled
We use AI to remove busywork, not people. It buys back the time our team spends doing the thing machines can't, listening, and believing in someone.
We lead with possibility
We never open with what's wrong with a learner. We open with what's possible. Nobody grows from being reminded they're behind.
We stand beside, not across
Progress made in community beats progress made in isolation. The word "Together" is in our name because it's the point, not the branding.
We treat employers as partners
Not buyers of training, partners in people development. When a business backs its whole workforce, everyone's trajectory changes.
Two ideas hold the whole Academy together.
ASCEND is our relationship-centred learning model, the journey from "just a" to full identity, held with the same quality at scale. The Three Gardens are how every course, path, and community space is organised, so learning is a coherent journey rather than a flat list of modules.
Personal excellence
Self-awareness, resilience, emotional intelligence, time management, and self-care, the foundations that make professional growth possible.
Professional capability
Communication, negotiation, delegation, decision-making, project management, data literacy, and leadership, the practical toolkit for the workplace.
Social and global citizenship
Sustainability, ethics, social responsibility, diversity and inclusion, developing people who contribute well beyond their own role.

Wherever you're starting from, you're not starting alone.
Whether you're starting out, coming back, or backing a whole team, there's a place for you here.
Together, let's go.
Safeguarding comes first, always
Many of our learners are aged 16 to 25, and their safety shapes how we build everything. Our zones are access-controlled and enrolment-only, community posts are moderated, and support is never more than a message away. Read our safeguarding commitment.
